Week 5, Thing 12

I played around with Rollyo today and created a search - or part of one on World War II. I did not open it up for the public because I still need to do more work on it. It is a really neat program and I can see a lot of valuable uses for it. I think that I will work with my Social Studies people first to create rollyo searches and work with it for this school year. I really think we can make some headway with our kids and getting them to limit themselves to valid websites. I think that this in combination with Delicious can be some powerful tools for our kids.

Week 5, Thing 10 and 11

As you can see, I was easily able to post my images to my blog. It was actually easier than I thought. The shirt was done in Image Chef - http://www.imagechef.com/

The Picture of Sandy - the dog- was done in Captioner. http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/captioner.php

I started to play around with delicious but was interrupted by the start of school - all those meetings!!!!

I want to play some more with it before I move on. I would like to be able to set it up so that I can use it with websites from the school library.
Playing around with image generators is a lot of fun. I hope I can put this image in my blog.

Customized Soccer Jersey - ImageChef.com

I am getting sidetracked with the different programs. I hope this will work. I checked out the preview and it seems to have copied correctly. These images are fun to work with. I also played with Captioner and was able to create a picture of my dog.

Week 4 - Thing 9

RSS Feeds are addictive! I have been trying to get a handle on them and how to best use them but I get stuck in reading all the things on my Google Reader! I can see that if I don't keep going, I will get stuck on this topic and it is time to move on!

I have been exploring some websites through using these feeds and find that I can determine that I don't like some while I do like other sites just by seeing what they feed. Interesting. I am still struggling with the blogs, though. I am not sure that I want to get too into it at this time. I do not find them thrilling to read but I guess I will just keep trying.

Week 4, Thing 8

I have been working on my RSS feeds today. They are really cool! I want to do more exploration to find out how to use them in classes but I found some items that really interest me to add to my Google Reader. Unfortunately, I don't know when I will find the time to read all these items. It seems as if I will be staring at a computer more than normal. I need to find something on time management....

I am searching for library related blogs or newsfeeds to add to my list. Can anyone suggest some? I would most like to find one focused on school librarians. In the meantime, I will keep looking.

Bye for now.

Week 4 - Thing 7

I figured it out! When you find a picture in flickr, the "Blog This" button has to be there! Now this makes sense and I can begin to see some uses for this in my classes.

This is a neat place. I want to spend some time exploring the Library of Congress the next time I get to D.C.

I think I may have figured this step out!
